About John De Bord
I'm a professional photographer based in Colorado who specializes in photographs of my state.
I photograph wildlife, landscapes, travel based images, retro themed images and general nature. I aim to put the viewer "in" my photographs and show them that the world and all of its beauty is within easy reach and one doesn't have to travel far to see it.
I started out with a camera at a very young age by stealing my parents Kodak 110 and photographing all my friends at the age of 7. I got in trouble for it because flash cubes certainly weren't cheap. That was only the start.
Late on I rediscovered my love for photography by photographing car shows for my car club while I lived in Naperville, Illinois in the 1980s. I used a Minolta X370 which was completely manual. After moving to Denver, Colorado in 1990 I decided to attend art school at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design and chase the dream of being an automotive illustrator. While there, I had to take a B&W photography darkroom class and my love was rekindled. After graduating, I was an illustrator for awhile but decided to end that and go after photography full time.
The love affair to this day continues!
